El desayuno antes del trabajo
Esta mañana yo estaba muy ocupada y tuve que preparar el desayuno rápido. Antes de salir, hice dos huevos revueltos porque son fáciles y rápidos.
Mientras comía, vi una noticia de última hora en mi teléfono y casi se me olvidó el tiempo. Entonces dejé la mitad del café en la mesa y salí corriendo para llegar a la oficina a tiempo.
This morning I was very busy and had to make breakfast quickly. Before leaving, I made two scrambled eggs because they're easy and quick.
While I was eating, I saw breaking news on my phone and almost lost track of time. Then I left half my coffee on the table and ran out to get to the office on time.

Una llamada con la familia de mi novio
Mi novio quiere llamar a su abuela por teléfono esta tarde. Ella vive en México y habla solo español. Me pongo nervioso porque no soy muy bueno con el idioma todavía. Mi novio me pregunta: "¿Puedes seguir la conversación? Un poco, especialmente si hablas despacio."
Le digo que voy a intentarlo para practicar más. La abuela habla muy tranquila y eso me ayuda mucho. Al final, entiendo bastante y me siento contento.
My boyfriend wants to call his grandmother on the phone this afternoon. She lives in Mexico and only speaks Spanish. I get nervous because I'm not very good with the language yet. My boyfriend asks me: "Can you follow the conversation? A little, especially if you speak slowly."
I tell him I'm going to try, to get more practice. His grandmother speaks very calmly and that helps me a lot. In the end, I understand quite a bit and feel really pleased.
Un juicio en el tribunal
La sala del tribunal estaba llena de gente esa mañana. El acusado tenía que esperar en silencio por orden del juez. Su abogada habló durante casi una hora para defender su caso. Todos estaban nerviosos porque el veredicto era muy importante para las dos familias.
El juez dictó la sentencia. El acusado bajó la cabeza al escucharla. Su familia lloró en la parte de atrás de la sala.
The courtroom was packed with people that morning. The defendant had to wait in silence on the judge's orders. His lawyer spoke for nearly an hour to defend his case. Everyone was nervous because the verdict mattered a great deal to both families.
The judge delivered the sentence. The defendant bowed his head when he heard it. His family wept at the back of the room.
