Ensayo del coro escolar
La profesora les pide a los niños que canten una canción para el festival. Habiendo practicado la melodía varias veces, el grupo empieza a sonar mejor. La profesora cierra la puerta para que el ruido no salga al pasillo. Me cuesta mantener el ritmo, pero sigo intentándolo.
Al final del ensayo, un niño llega con el pijama todavía puesto y todos se ríen. La profesora no se enoja — dice que lo importante es que nadie faltó. Le da una palmada en el hombro y le dice: "De acuerdo, la próxima vez ven vestido."
The teacher asks the children to sing a song for the festival. Having practiced the melody several times, the group starts to sound better. The teacher closes the door so the noise doesn't spill into the hallway. I find it hard to keep the rhythm, but I keep trying.
At the end of rehearsal, one boy arrives still wearing his pajamas and everyone laughs. The teacher doesn't get angry — she says what matters is that nobody missed it. She gives him a pat on the shoulder and says: "Agreed, next time come dressed."

Un día en el desierto
Llegamos al desierto por la mañana, antes de que hiciera demasiado calor. Queríamos explorar las dunas para ver el paisaje desde arriba. Subimos una duna de arena muy alta. Desde la cima, podíamos ver todo el desierto a nuestro alrededor.
Bajamos despacio porque la arena era muy suelta. Al final, nos sentamos en la base de la duna para descansar un poco. Tenía mucha arena en los zapatos, pero valió la pena.
We arrived at the desert in the morning, before it got too hot. We wanted to explore the dunes to see the landscape from above. We climbed a very high sand dune. From the top, we could see the whole desert all around us.
We came down slowly because the sand was very loose. In the end, we sat at the base of the dune to rest for a bit. My shoes were full of sand, but it was worth it.
Una reunión de trabajo sin datos
El equipo está reunido en la sala de conferencias para revisar el nuevo proyecto. Laura busca el informe en su computadora, pero el archivo no está. Ella llama a Carlos por teléfono para pedirle los datos, pero él no contesta. No podemos continuar toda vez que falta información importante.
El jefe decide esperar hasta la tarde y posponer la reunión. Todos salen de la sala un poco frustrados. Al final, Carlos responde y manda los archivos por correo electrónico. La reunión va a empezar de nuevo a las cuatro.
The team is gathered in the conference room to go over the new project. Laura looks for the report on her computer, but the file isn't there. She calls Carlos to ask him for the data, but he doesn't pick up. We cannot continue as important information is missing.
The manager decides to wait until the afternoon and postpone the meeting. Everyone leaves the room feeling a little frustrated. Eventually, Carlos responds and sends the files by email. The meeting is going to start again at four o'clock.
