Un paseo al lago con la bici pinchada [diary]
Hoy quería ir al lago en bici, pero la rueda estaba pinchada cuando salí de casa. Me quedé pensativa un momento y decidí tomar el autobús en vez de arreglarla.
En la parada vi a una señora que daba paletas a sus nietos, y una paloma se acercó para intentar morder una. Claro que nadie le hizo caso, y el autobús llegó justo a tiempo. Fue un día estupendo al final — vale la pena salir aunque las cosas no salgan como planeabas.
Today I wanted to go to the lake by bike, but the tire was flat when I left the house. I stood there thoughtful for a moment and decided to take the bus instead of fixing it.
At the stop I saw a woman giving popsicles to her grandchildren, and a pigeon came over to try to bite one. Obviously nobody paid it any attention, and the bus arrived just in time. It turned out to be a fantastic day — it's worth going out even when things don't go as you planned.

Prepararse para una boda [anecdote]
Lucía abre su armario y busca algo elegante para ponerse. Encuentra una falda azul que compró el año pasado y decide usarla. La plancha, la combina con una blusa blanca y se mira en el espejo. Está muy contenta con el resultado.
Lucía opens her wardrobe and looks for something elegant to wear. She finds a blue skirt she bought last year and decides to put it on. She irons it, pairs it with a white blouse, and looks at herself in the mirror. She is very happy with how it turned out.
Un momento de confusión en el trabajo [inner_monologue]
Son las tres de la tarde y Tomás lleva horas mirando la pantalla sin poder concentrarse. Se levanta, camina hasta la ventana y piensa: «¿Qué me está pasando?» Normalmente le encanta su trabajo, pero hoy no puede terminar ni una sola tarea. Decide salir a tomar aire y volver en diez minutos.
It is three in the afternoon and Tomás has been staring at his screen for hours without being able to focus. He stands up, walks to the window, and thinks: «What is happening to me?» He normally loves his job, but today he cannot finish a single task. He decides to step outside for some fresh air and come back in ten minutes.

Una tarde cuidando a la mascota [anecdote]
Hoy Dafne va a cuidar el conejo de su vecino mientras él está de viaje. El animal vive en una jaula pequeña en el balcón. Dafne le abre la jaula y lo deja saltar un rato.
Mi conejo come zanahorias, le escribió el vecino antes de salir. Así que ella saca una zanahoria de la nevera y la corta en trozos. El conejo la huele, la prueba y se la come entera. Dafne sonríe — no era tan difícil.
Today Dafne is going to look after her neighbour's rabbit while he is away on a trip. The animal lives in a small cage on the balcony. Dafne opens the cage and lets him hop around for a while.
My rabbit eats carrots, the neighbour wrote to her before leaving. So she takes a carrot out of the fridge and cuts it into pieces. The rabbit sniffs it, tries it, and eats it whole. Dafne smiles — it wasn't so hard after all.
Un viaje de trabajo a otra ciudad [anecdote]
Rosaura llama a su amigo Tadeo para contarle sobre el viaje. Él y su compañera de trabajo están en otra ciudad por tres días. Ellos se quedan en un hotel cerca del centro. El hotel es cómodo y tiene desayuno incluido. Por las mañanas, van a la oficina del cliente y trabajan hasta las seis. Por las noches, caminan por la ciudad y buscan un restaurante cerca. Tadeo dice que ya quiere volver a casa.
Rosaura calls her friend Tadeo to tell him about the trip. He and his coworker are in another city for three days. They stay in a hotel near the city centre. The hotel is comfortable and includes breakfast. In the mornings, they go to the client's office and work until six. In the evenings, they walk around the city and look for a nearby restaurant. Tadeo says he already wants to go home.
