Un mercado lleno de fresas en noviembre [anecdote]
Hoy fui al mercado público con mi amiga Soraya y había mucho que ver. Ella me llevó directo al puesto de frutas y me dijo que las fresas de noviembre son las mejores.
Yo no sabía eso — entre tú y yo, siempre pensé que era una trampa para turistas. Pero las probé y, desafortunadamente para mi dieta, me van a encantar para siempre. Soraya asintió y me dijo: "Guau, ¿verdad?" Al final compramos demasiadas y tuve que guardar la mitad en la mochila.
Today I went to the public market with my friend Soraya and there was a lot to take in. She led me straight to the fruit stall and told me that strawberries in November are the best.
I didn't know that — between you and me, I always thought it was a trap for tourists. But I tried them and, unfortunately for my diet, I'm going to love them forever. Soraya nodded and said, "Wow, right?" In the end we bought too many and I had to keep half of them in my backpack.

Ayer por la tarde, un niño estaba jugando en el parque cuando se le cayó un zapato. Él se agachó rápidamente para recogerlo del suelo. Su mamá lo miraba desde el banco y sonrió. Después, los dos siguieron caminando hacia la salida.
Yesterday afternoon, a boy was playing in the park when one of his shoes fell off. He bent down quickly to pick it up from the ground. His mom was watching him from the bench and smiled. Afterwards, the two of them kept walking toward the exit.
Una visita a la librería [inner_monologue]
Hoy entré a una librería pequeña cerca de mi casa. Me agradan mucho los libros de viajes, así que fui directo a esa sección. Estuve un buen rato mirando las portadas y leyendo los resúmenes. Al final compré dos libros y salí muy contento.
Today I went into a small bookstore near my house. Travel books please me a lot, so I went straight to that section. I spent a good while looking at the covers and reading the summaries. In the end I bought two books and left very happy.

En el mercado de frutas [anecdote]
Sofía está en el mercado buscando fruta para hacer un postre. Ve varias piñas en el puesto y le pregunta al vendedor si están maduras. El vendedor le dice que llegaron esta mañana. Las piñas son dulces y jugosas.
Sofía decide comprar dos y también agarra unos mangos. Va a preparar una ensalada de frutas para la cena de esta noche. Paga en la caja y sale del mercado con una bolsa llena.
Sofía is at the market looking for fruit to make a dessert. She spots several pineapples at the stall and asks the vendor if they are ripe. He tells her they came in this morning. Pineapples are sweet and juicy.
Sofía decides to buy two and also grabs some mangoes. She is going to make a fruit salad for dinner tonight. She pays at the register and leaves the market with a full bag.
Un domingo en el zoológico [anecdote]
El fin de semana pasado, mis primos vinieron a visitarnos desde Guadalajara. El sábado llovió mucho, así que no pudimos salir. Visitamos el zoológico el domingo. Los animales que más les gustaron fueron los elefantes y los pingüinos.
Estuvimos allí casi cuatro horas porque no querían irse. Al final, todos estábamos cansados pero muy contentos.
Last weekend, my cousins came to visit us from Guadalajara. It rained a lot on Saturday, so we couldn't go out. We visited the zoo on Sunday. The animals they liked the most were the elephants and the penguins.
We were there for almost four hours because they didn't want to leave. In the end, we were all tired but really happy.
