Después del trabajo, Beto se paró en el bar cercano para tomar algo. El dependiente, un chico rubio y muy hablador, le recomendó una chela bien fría.
Beto la pidió y se sentó hacia la ventana para descansar un poco. Tienes que probar el esquite también —le dijo el dependiente con una sonrisa. Beto lo miró, sonrió, y pensó: suena bien.
After work, Beto stopped at the nearby bar to have something. The clerk, a blonde and very talkative guy, recommended him a nice cold beer.
Beto ordered it and sat down towards the window to rest for a bit. "You have to try the corn snack too," the clerk told him with a smile. Beto looked at him, smiled, and thought: sounds good.

El repartidor del barrio [character_sketch]
Don Aurelio trabaja como repartidor para una empresa de agua embotellada en el centro de la ciudad. Sale de casa a las seis de la mañana y lleva decenas de garrafones a restaurantes y oficinas. Todo el mundo en el barrio lo conoce porque siempre llega puntual y saluda con una sonrisa. Sus clientes dicen que es el mejor repartidor que han tenido en años.
Don Aurelio works as a distributor for a bottled-water company in the city centre. He leaves home at six in the morning and delivers dozens of jugs to restaurants and offices. Everyone in the neighbourhood knows him because he always arrives on time and greets people with a smile. His customers say he is the best distributor they have had in years.

Una visita a la finca familiar [anecdote]
Rodrigo llega a la finca de su abuelo por primera vez en años. El abuelo le muestra los campos desde la entrada. Las tierras de cultivo son fértiles. Por eso, siempre producen una buena cosecha de tomates y maíz.
Rodrigo mira los campos con sorpresa y le pregunta cómo los mantiene así. El abuelo sonríe y dice que todo depende del agua y del trabajo diario. Rodrigo decide que va a volver el próximo verano para ayudar.
Rodrigo arrives at his grandfather's farm for the first time in years. His grandfather shows him the fields from the entrance. Farmland is fertile. That is why it always produces a good harvest of tomatoes and corn.
Rodrigo looks at the fields in surprise and asks him how he keeps them that way. His grandfather smiles and says it all comes down to water and daily work. Rodrigo decides he is going to come back next summer to help.
El día de las elecciones municipales [anecdote]
Hoy son las elecciones municipales y Tomeu tiene que ir a votar. Se despierta temprano porque no quiere hacer cola. Busca su documento de identidad y lo mete en el bolsillo. La votación empieza a las ocho de la mañana.
Llega al colegio electoral a las ocho y cuarto y ya hay bastante gente. Espera unos minutos, entra, y vota sin problema. Cuando sale, se siente bien porque ha cumplido con su deber cívico.
Today is the municipal election and Tomeu has to go and vote. He wakes up early because he doesn't want to wait in a long line. He looks for his ID card and slips it into his pocket. Voting starts at 8:00 a.m.
He arrives at the polling station at quarter past eight and there are already quite a few people. He waits a few minutes, goes in, and votes without any trouble. When he comes out, he feels good — he has done his civic duty.
