Cocinando con papá en diciembre [anecdote]
Mi padre y yo estamos en la cocina un domingo de diciembre. Él tiene una receta vieja de mi abuela, escrita en un papel amarillo. Vamos a sazonar la carne con sal y unas hierbas. Mi padre es un poco impaciente y quiere probar la salsa antes de tiempo. "¡No la toques todavía!", le digo, pero él insiste. De repente casi se le queman los dedos con la sartén caliente. A decir verdad, la cocina huele increíble y ya no importa el pequeño susto. Más tarde probamos la comida juntos y nos gusta que sea tan sabrosa como la de mi abuela.
My father and I are in the kitchen one Sunday in December. He has an old recipe from my grandmother, written on a yellow paper. We're going to season the meat with salt and some herbs. My father is a bit impatient and wants to taste the sauce before it's ready. "Don't touch it yet!" I tell him, but he insists. Suddenly he almost burns his fingers on the hot pan. To tell the truth, the kitchen smells amazing and the little scare doesn't matter anymore. Later we try the food together and we like that it is just as tasty as my grandmother's.

My nephews get home after school. They leave their backpacks on the kitchen table. They study math and science in the afternoon. First they finish the math problems. Then they read a chapter about animals for science class. Sometimes they have tricky questions and they call me over. When they finish, they go out to play for a while in the yard. I make dinner while they play outside.

Después de cenar, mi hermano y yo nos sentamos en el sofá para ver la tele. Él tenía el mando y empezó a pasar los canales sin parar. De repente encontramos una película, pero yo ya conocía el final. Cambiamos de canal porque la película que echaban no nos interesaba. Entonces pusimos un programa de cocina que nos gustaba mucho. Al final, nos quedamos despiertos hasta muy tarde riéndonos con el programa.
After dinner, my brother and I sat on the couch to watch TV. He had the remote and started flipping through the channels nonstop. Suddenly we came across a film, but I already knew the ending. We changed the channel because we weren’t interested in the film that was on. So we put on a cooking show that we both really liked. In the end, we stayed up really late laughing at the show.
